Mighty Mo flying high in the cup
Montrose have put themselves in a great position to qualify for the knock-out stages of the Premier Sports Cup after two more wins in their group.
Having already defeated Dundee United in their opening match, Stewart Petrie’s side travelled to Stirling Albion on Saturday and came away with a 2-0 victory, thanks to first half goals from Ewan Loudon from the penalty spot, and Blair Lyons.

They then maintained their 100 per cent record in the competition on Tuesday night, winning 2-0 in the Angus derby at Arbroath.
Loudon was again on target, this time claiming both Montrose goals in the first half.
Arbroath ended the game with 10 men when Scott Stewart was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 80th minute.
Montrose host Spartans on Saturday knowing even a draw will be enough to clinch top spot in the group.
Arbroath, meanwhile, have no chance of progressing, having lost 3-0 at Tannadice against Dundee United prior to their loss to Montrose. United goals came from Zac Sapsford, Idjessi Metsoko and Lachlan Rose.
The Red Lichties will complete their Premier Sports Cup campaign at home to Stirling Albion on Saturday.
Forfar were not in action on Saturday, and they probably wishing they hadn’t played on Tuesday night either, having been hammered 8-0 at Livingston.
Goals from Tyrese Sinclair, Graham Carey, Robbie Muirhead and Stevie May had the Championship side in complete control by half time, and they added a further four goal after the break, with Muirhead and Carey again finding the net, along with Aidan Denholm and Joe Boggan.
In the same group, Brechin City were defeated 2-1 at home by Stenhousemuir on Saturday.
Dale Hilson netted for City in the 43rd minute to level the match, with Mikey Anderson having given the visitors an early lead. They were only level for two minutes, though, as Dale Carrick netted what proved to be the winner on the stroke of half time.
Having both lost their three games so far, Forfar and Brechin sit at the bottom of their group with no points.
They’ll meet this Saturday at Station Park to complete their cup campaign.
