The CTEK RB3000 is powerful, reassuringly simple and built to last, but its premium price means it needs to offer more than a basic jump pack.
The CTEK RB3000 is the sort of jump starter you hope you never need, but when your car battery gives up, having something dependable can make all the difference. This high-end CTEK RB3000 jump starter certainly makes an impression.
Made by Swedish battery specialist CTEK, the RB3000 can deliver a claimed 3,000A peak current and is designed for vehicles with 12V lead-acid batteries. It can provide up to 30 starts from a full charge, while also doubling as a USB power bank and emergency light. The latest price for the CTEK RB3000 is worth checking, as prices vary between retailers.
It is a substantial bit of kit, weighing 1.028kg and measuring 239mm long, so this is portable rather than something you will casually slip into a pocket. For cars, vans and motorhomes, that is unlikely to be a major problem. The sturdy case, clear percentage display and IP65 rating all add to the premium feel.

The best bit is arguably how straightforward it is to use. Charge it through USB-C, connect the clamp module, attach the clamps to the battery and follow the display. There is also protection against reverse polarity, sparks, overcurrent, short circuits and excessive temperature, making the premium jump starter reassuringly simple.
In testing, the RB3000 started both a small-engined car and a relatively large motorhome with impressive ease, while using surprisingly little of its charge. There are some niggles, including relatively short leads, a modest power-bank output and a two-year warranty that feels a little mean for such an expensive product.
The bigger question is whether it is worth paying a premium when much cheaper jump packs are available. At around £279 at the time of the original review, this is firmly aimed at buyers who value reliability and robust construction over simply finding the cheapest option.
So, is the CTEK RB3000 worth buying? The full review reveals whether this mighty jump starter earns its premium price.
