HP’s latest Instant Ink promotion can give eligible customers three extra trial months, taking some new printer owners up to nine months in total.

If you’ve recently bought a new HP printer, there’s a limited-time offer worth knowing about before you leave it sitting in the box. HP is currently offering eligible customers up to nine months of its Instant Ink subscription, which automatically sends replacement ink when your printer detects you are running low.

The promotion runs until October 31, 2026, and could be particularly useful for households printing homework, university work, documents or photos. The important catch is that you need to sign up for HP Instant Ink within seven days of setting up your printer to qualify.

HP Instant Ink works differently from simply buying replacement cartridges whenever they run out. Instead, you choose a monthly plan based on how many pages you expect to print, while your compatible printer keeps track of its ink levels and HP sends replacement cartridges when required.

One of the more unusual features is that the amount of ink used on a page does not determine how that page is counted. That means printing a full-colour photograph can count as one page in the same way as printing a simple black-and-white document. Anyone considering the service can check the current HP Instant Ink offer before enrolling.

The current SUMMER26UKI promotional code adds three additional trial months to whatever Instant Ink trial period is already included with an eligible printer. That means someone whose new HP printer already comes with six trial months could potentially receive up to nine months in total.

This could make the offer particularly appealing at this time of year, with families printing schoolwork and forms while students may be setting up printers ahead of the new university term. However, the seven-day sign-up requirement makes the timing important if you have only recently unpacked a compatible HP printer.

To claim the extra months, enter the code SUMMER26UKI in the “Promotional or PIN code” field during registration. The promotion is available until 11.59pm on October 31, but new printer owners should not necessarily wait until the deadline because eligibility depends on registering soon after setup. You can see how HP Instant Ink works and sign up here.

There is another important detail to remember before enrolling. Instant Ink is an ongoing subscription rather than simply a free ink giveaway. Unless the service is cancelled during the promotional period, HP says customers will subsequently be charged the monthly fee associated with their chosen plan. It is therefore worth checking the eligibility requirements, selected plan and cancellation terms carefully when registering.
