MSP opens new office in town centre landmark building
Angus South MSP Lloyd Melville has signed the lease for his new constituency office in Arbroath’s historic courthouse.
The move will maintain a longstanding constituency office presence on the town’s High Street, with Mr Melville’s predecessor Graeme Dey having previously been based further along the Street near Arbroath Abbey.

The new office will provide a permanent local base for Mr Melville and his constituency team, where people can seek assistance, raise issues or speak to staff.
It will also see the MSP’s office become part of the wider regeneration of the landmark building by the Arbroath Courthouse Community Trust, supporting efforts to bring the it back into active community use.
Mr Melville said: “I’m delighted to have signed the lease and to be maintaining a constituency office in the heart of Arbroath. Graeme Dey’s office was a familiar presence for many years, and it was important to me that I continued to have a visible and accessible base.
“Moving into the courthouse also gives me an opportunity to support a fantastic community-led project which is bringing an important historic building back into use and contributing to the wider regeneration of the High Street.
“Most importantly, I want people to be able to get in touch and speak to me or my team as easily as possible.
The office will now be prepared for opening, with details on opening arrangements and constituency surgeries to be announced.
