Army reservists at home on the range in Angus
Soldiers from 7th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (7 SCOTS) took to the ranges at Barry Buddon Training Area at Carnoustie recently to complete their Annual Combat Marksmanship Test (ACMT).
The ACMT is a mandatory live-firing assessment that all soldiers must pass each year to demonstrate their weapon handling and marksmanship skills.

During the exercise, they engaged targets at varying distances, firing from a range of positions including prone, kneeling and standing.
For many involved, the training formed part of their weekend Army reserve commitments.
The assessment forms a key part of the Army’s training programme and ensures that reserve soldiers maintain the same marksmanship and weapon handling standards as their regular Army counterparts.
WO1 (RSM) Andrew Bright, of 7 SCOTS said: “The ACMT is an essential annual requirement that ensures soldiers maintain the marksmanship and weapon handling standards expected across the Army.
"For our reserve soldiers, completing training like this often means balancing their military commitments alongside full-time civilian careers. Many will have travelled here after a working week in jobs across Scotland, giving up their time to maintain the skills and qualifications required as part of their Army service.”
7 SCOTS is one of The Royal Regiment of Scotland two reserve battalions, with members from across the country.
