The wooden building, on Lochend Road, was set alight at 2am on Saturday morning (May 13). Scene of crime (SOC) officers were at the scene on Saturday to determine the cause. Police are appealing for witnesses to what is the third suspicious fire in Carnoustie in recent months.
It took two fire crews, from Carnoustie and one from Balmossie, half an hour to bring the blaze under control using two main hose reel jets. Police said they are treating the fire as “wilful”. There were no reports of anyone being injured.
A police spokesman said: “Around 2.20am on Saturday, officers were called to a report of a fire on Lochend Road. The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. The fire is being treated as wilful and inquiries are ongoing.”
Anyone with information should call Police on 101.
