In keeping with Visit Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022, Glamis Castle will host The Great Summer Storytelling Search and the first tour took place last weekend. Led by Jilly Henderson and Neil Paterson of Bespooked Tours, they will take visitors of all ages for a bespoke tour in the castle grounds with a mix of popular fables, spooky tales, historical facts with a sprinkling of audience participation too. If visitors miss the first tour, there will be more opportunities to take part in the search for stories on Friday, July 15 and Friday, July 22.

After proving very popular last year, the Summer Festival is returning to Glamis Castle. On July 16 and 17, an exciting mix of local food, drink and craft businesses will have a presence at the family-friendly festival. Children can take part in ‘Go Potty’ workshops where they will learn the basics of planting with the help of the castle’s talented gardening team. There will also be garden tours throughout the two days.

Angus Alive, the culture, sport and leisure trust for the county of Angus, will be attending the Summer Festival to showcase their inclusive electric bikes and offer complimentary children’s Bookbug sessions.

As well as the many food suppliers on site, the Castle Kitchen Restaurant will be open to visitors offering coffee, cake or a spot of lunch. The Hub Café will also be open in the grounds for those looking for refreshments on the move.

At the end of July, a date for the diary is the Glamis Country Fair and Horse Trials. Equestrian competitions including show jumping and cross country as well as a variety of other attractions to enjoy from birds of prey demonstrations to a dog show.

Other events taking place at Glamis Castle over the summer include Flower Arranging Workshops led by Glamis Castle florist Margaret Cook of Farmgate Floral Design.

Also coming up is Children’s Activity Day. On Sunday August 14, Glamis Castle is hosting a grand day out for all the family with bouncy castles, sand art sessions, nature workshops and more.

August also sees the return of Jazz on the Lawn where music lovers can experience an evening listening to the sounds of Rose Room, an award-winning jazz quartet in an outdoor concert.

Don’t miss Jazz on the Lawn on August 21, September 24 and October 15.

Glamis Castle is open to visitors until Monday, October 31. From Tuesday, November 1, winter hours will commence where facilities are open every Thursday – Sunday until Sunday, December 18.
