Now in its second year, the Strathmore Open Studios (SOS) event, from May 26-29, will build on the success of last year with an increase in the number of participating artists and makers.

Held throughout the Strathmore valley, from Rattray to Glamis, and running over a period of four days, this event will give art fans access to more than 40 artists and makers in their own studios and galleries.

From painting, glass and ceramics, to a variety of unique textile designs and stone & woodwork design, there will be something for everyone.

Visiting the exhibiting artists will provide a unique insight into their work, methods and inspirations. In each location there will also be the opportunity to buy one-of-a-kind creations directly from the creators themselves.

Many also offer the chance for tailored commissions and as well as demonstrations and the opportunity to see them at work. Creative works will include drawings and paintings in a variety of styles and media; ceramics and pottery including earthenware, raku and stoneware; stone carving and wood carving and wood turning.

A spokesperson for SOS said: “All venues are relatively close to each other, and some are hosting groups of artists and makers, so it is possible to visit a good number while undertaking a mini grand tour of the beautiful countryside in Strathmore.”

The SOS guide is available online at strathmoreopenstudios.com.
