Previously unseen Arbroath gardens open to the public this weekend

On Saturday, a group including four gardens in Letham Grange (Waulkmill, Denside and Firhills areas) will be open between 1pm and 5pm, perfect for dog walkers but do bring a lead and check each individual garden takes dogs (The Cottage in Firhills does not).

Yellow signs will guide you to the start of the walk round where you will receive a map, the walk is also signed.

Also opening in summer for the first time, the garden at beautiful Lawton House (DD11 4RU) is nearby and will be signed from the main road. Start or finish this cluster with a visit to Ashbrook nursery on the edge of Arbroath where nursery tours at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm are being offered - you will get to see commercial plant production from seed growing to the final plant and the production of sustainable cut flowers. You can also refresh yourself in the café there.

Admission is £5 to include all the gardens, children go free.

Inverbrothock School Sensory Garden and Forest Garden opens for the first time on Sunday, 12pm - 4pm. These two gardens have been designed and created by the pupils, staff and parents.

The Sensory Garden is a great asset to all children and staff, especially children who need additional support. There are areas of raised beds for growing vegetables, a dry river bed with interesting grasses and plants, large stone features to climb on, and different shelters and corners to play in. A polytunnel is used for outdoor classes and seed sowing. The Forest Garden includes interesting mounds and trees, an area to build dens and play amongst trees. Gardens created by and for young minds. Admission will be by donation.
