Popular Tattie Day returns to Kirrie this Saturday
Kirriemuir Tattie Day returns this Saturday with a feast of activities for local growers and tuber enthusiasts of all types.
The annual event is the perfect day whether you are thinking about growing your own for the first time, or already know which varieties you will be stocking up on for the 2026 season.

As well as a huge variety of seed potatoes to choose from, there will also be stalls with a range of locally grown and made produce, activities for children and a tattie-themed café for lunch or a sweet treat.
The star of the show is always the dozens of varieties of seed potato pick ‘n’ mix available to buy directly from Andrew and Amy Skea of Potato House.
A spokesperson for organisers Sustainable Kirrimuir, said: “They will be on hand throughout the day to answer any questions and to advise on the perfect tatties for your taste and growing space. Haven’t got a veggie patch to grow in? Don’t worry, they also sell grow bags to plant your tatties in!
“We’ll be running a pop-up café with a simple menu of soup, stovies and cakes. Our café income helps us cover the costs of running the event, with any surplus going towards our Food & Growing projects.”
The Seed Library will be accommodated in Kirriemuir Library, next to the main venue of the town hall, on Reform Street. Take along any unused flower, vegetable or herb seeds to donate to the Seed Swap, and pick up some new seed to try.
Tattie Day will start at 11am and run until 3pm.
