Participants of Scotland’s premier ladies shooting club Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags are in for a treat this weekend as they have their inaugural event at Glamis Castle.

Having exclusive use of the castle and grounds, the ladies are being met by a piper welcoming them to the castle where they will enjoy breakfast. The morning will be spent clay pigeon shooting all under instruction in the events field with the castle as the back drop.

Ladies will be placed in groups according to their ability and set targets to suit. All abilities are always welcome at every event – from those who have never held a gun to the more experienced.

Participants will then be treated to lunch before being enjoying a relaxed, fun, fashion show by Country Ways. The group event will finish with a tour of the castle.

Mhairi Morriss, owner of Glad Rags Events and founder of Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags, explained that when she started the business eight years ago, she wanted to create something truly unique.

Unlike all other ladies shooting groups, Glad Rags does not hold its events at traditional clay shooting grounds – the exception being Gleneagles – but is more like a roving syndicate, visiting exclusive, magnificent venues.

Mhairi said: “I am very excited to be taking the ladies to Glamis Castle.

"It really is a bit of a pinch me, is this really happening moment for me. Never ever in my wildest dreams could I have imagined being so very lucky to be putting this event together with the help of the magnificent team from Glamis.

“As well as learning how to shoot properly, a Glad Rags day out is so much more. It’s the whole experience of the venue, the social side of seeing old friends again, meeting new ones, and making memories.

“Glamis is the ultimate venue for so many types of events – for us it really is the creme de la crème. This is one day none of us will ever forget.”

A raffle will be held on the day, raising funds for Glad Rags Events chosen charity Children 1st and a Gingko Tree is being donated to Glamis Castle as a thank you.
