Both the Scotland men’s and women’s sides were unbeaten following the first few games of their respective campaigns to top the tables in their championship ranking tables.

After five sessions of round-robin play, Scotland women, skipped by Eve Muirhead with local curler Wright as her vice-captain, were the only unbeaten side left in the women’s competition in the early part of the week.

After defeating Germany, by 9-5, in the morning session on Monday, they recorded their second win of the day, and fifth of the week, in the early evening session by defeating Estonia, 10-3.

However, they tasted defeat for the first time on Tuesday afternoon, stunned by an 8-7 defeat to recently promoted Italy.

But they bounced back against Czech Republic in the evening’s session, thrashing the Czech Republic 9-1 to again reinforce their place at the top of their group.

Skip Muirhead said afterwards that she was “pleased to get back on the winning trail.”
