Skeg Vegas trip more than a holiday for racers

Angus racers took a trip south for the Thursday night stock car meeting at Skegness.

The meeting was run in warm and sunny conditions with big fields of cars in both of the formula II and saloon heats.

There were heat wins for Paul Rice, David Shearing and Gordon Moodie with Jessica Smith winning the consolation race

James Riggall won the formula II final from Moodie and Jamie Jones.

In the saloons the Brechin trio of Barry Russell, Stuart Brown and Logan Bruce were in action.

Heat wins went to Kyle Irvine, Ross Watters and Stuart Tointon with both drivers picking up sixth places in their heats. Rowan Venni won the consolation heat and whilst Stuart Shevill Jnr led the cars going into the last bend in the final he was shunted wide and it was third placed Joey Reynolds who went though to win the Dave Garner memorial race from Michael Allard and Shevill Jnr.

On Sunday the weather was hot and sunny and the action on the track was exciting.

On Sunday the action came thick and fast in both the formula IIs and the saloons and there were a couple of rollovers and multiple car shunts.

Formula II heat wins went to Rebecca Smith, Jessica Smith and Riggall, Ed Neachell won the consolation heat and Charlie Guinchard the UK Championship.

In the saloons the last chance qualifying heat was won by Eck Cunningham but the UK Championship was won by Barry Russell with McLaughlin finishing in fifth place.

Jack Grandon won the Raymond Gunn Tribute race and the allcomers went to Michael Allard with Russell in third spot.
