Logan plans to make another big impression in 2022

Bruce, an auto Electrician with Phillips in Forfar, entered the saloon class last season and enjoyed an excellent campaign which got off to the best possible start with an early victory.

He’s now planning to make a similar impact when the new season begins and has already started his preparations.

“I don’t have an awful lot to do to my car over the close season ” Bruce said.

“I’ll probably repanel and tidy it up.

" I hope to travel a bit more in the 2022 season and would like to try to qualify for the w orld f inal.

" Basically, it is me and my dad who do most of the work on the car but my main sponsor, Blair Anderson, helps a lot.”

Bruce’s first full season in the saloons saw him start as a white grader and was boosted by the early win.

Following the victory, the Scottish Championships arrived but any hopes of making an impression were dented early on.

“ My car was running well in the heats and I did alright,” he added.

" I think I started the Scottish from row three but I only managed three laps before had to retire with a broken rear wishbone after been sent into the wall.

“I managed to move up to the blue grade and one of my first outings with the car was the Skegness weekend. I raced all three days and it was my first time in such big fields of cars. It was another learning curve racing with so many cars about. Come Sunday. my only chance of getting into the UK Championship was through the last chance qualifying race but my race came to a sudden halt when I got caught up in the middle of a crash and ended up injuring my foot.”

The European Championship followed soon afterwards at the Racewall and, as Bruce was now a blue grade driver he started his races further back.

" I had steady heats and qualified for the European,” he added.

"Mind you, my race didn’t last long and I crashed out with another couple of cars on the first lap.

“I dropped to the yellow grade towards the end of the season.

"My car was running well and I finished in second place in the white/yellow challenge final.

"The last major race at the Racewall was the Superbowl and National Series weekend.

"The track was wet and greasy and in one of my heats I was fighting for the lead with Michael Allard and Barry Russell.

"I glanced off the wall and my car slowed, I had no power and it was later found that I had a battery problem. I started from well down the grid and had to retire after getting involved in a spot of action.

“On Sunday the first race of the afternoon was the Gordon Barclay Memorial Trophy but, half-way through the race I got caught up with a group of red grade drivers and a few of us had to retire.

“Now the season is over it is a case of making sure that the car is set up properly for the 2022 season.”
