Golfers set to tee off for Open qualifying chance

Carnoustie’s Panmure Golf Club will soon be one of a handful of courses offering players a last chance to qualify for this years 150th Open Championship in St Andrews.

This week organisers The R&A added two new venues for regional qualifying after receiving a significant number of entries from golfers aiming to earn a place in the major.

The Buckinghamshire and Lindrick will stage qualifying events on June 20 in addition to those being played at Alwoodley, Burhill (New), Caldy, County Louth, Fairhaven, Frilford Heath (Red), Goswick, Kedleston Park, Minchinhampton (Composite), Moor Park (High), Northamptonshire County, Panmure and Rochester & Cobham Park.

The draw for each qualifying event can now be viewed on The Open.com.

Golfers will play an 18 hole stroke play competition with successful qualifiers advancing to final qualifying being held on June 28 at Fairmont St Andrews, Hollinwell, Prince’s and St Annes Old Links.

The 150th Open Championship will tee off at the home of golf on Thursday, July 14.
