The 22-year-old, from Forfar, will again partner Rob Collard, with whom he won the British GT Championship in 2020, and fellow Englishman Alex MacDowall.

The trio will share the #77 Lamborghini Huracan Evo GT3, prepared by Barwell Motorsport, in the six-hour 1000km race.“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the car with Rob and Alex at Paul Ricard,” said Mitchell, a Lamborghini factory driver and member of the British Racing Drivers’ Club.

“We tested at the track earlier in the year with the Barwell crew and it’s a circuit that suits the Lamborghini.

"We know the car goes really well there, so we’re certainly targeting a podium finish at least.”And the Scot returns to the sweeping, blindingly quick French circuit knowing he and his Barwell Motorsport team have already tasted success at Paul Ricard.“We won the Silver Cup class in the race in 2018 when it was part of the Blancpain GT Endurance Series, so we know how to win there,” added Mitchell, who is personally backed by Tunnocks and Thorntons Solicitors.“It’s always a long, hard race, starting in daylight and finishing in the darkness, so it’s a tough event for everyone concerned.

"But we’re up for the challenge and it would be fantastic to win there again.”
