Eilish McColgan a record breaker once again
The 31-year-old triple Olympian is in the form of her life and, at the weekend, added yet another record to her name.

Hide AdMcColgan clocked 14:45 in the 5k on the road at the Asics event in Malaga in Spain on Sunday morning.
It was a stunning time and, subject to the ratification process, is a new British record.
McColgan bettered distance records set by Paula Radcliffe throughout 2021.

Hide AdIt was all the more impressive given that the Angus athlete’s preparation for the event was disrupted by a bout of Covid-19 only a few weeks ago.
Ahead of her in 2022 are the World Championships in Oregon and, of course, the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Speaking to race sponsors Asics after her run, McColgan said: “I struggled a little bit at the top because I’m like a giraffe and my legs are a little too long to go round those corners but I felt like I got really good speed and momentum down the straight.

Hide Ad"At the very start of March I caught Covid and I was so surprised on how it floored me.
"I just thought I’m young and healthy enough but my running took a chunk of time.
"Over the last 10 days I’ve felt better and thought it would be good to start on the roads.

Hide Ad"There’s a bit less pressure on the roads than on the track with regards to times o we had a go and I’m really happy with that.
"I’m surprised at how it’s turned around and hopefully I have a good summer ahead.”
