Angus competitiors were greeted to a warm and sunny evening at the Cowdenbeath Racewall over the weekend with a good turn out of cars in all the formula.

The drama started when Beckie Ritchie ended up rolling her prostock on the pit bend after having clipped the spun car of John Paton.

On a dry fast track there were numerous shunts and spins as drivers tried to improve their places in front of a packed sratdium.

In the formula IIs, Peter Watt, Kirriemuir, was the local driver in action and he enjoyed a good outing with the new engine in his car serving him well.

In the opening heat Watt brought his car home in tenth place whilst in heat two he ended up in ninth spot.

During the Willie Hunter memorial trophy final, Watt was running in the top ten when a spin dropped him to the rear of the field.

Although he restarted, he wasn’t classified at the close.

Watt was back out for the grand national where he brought his car home in sixth place.

The Brechin duo of Johnny Wood and Barry Russell were back in action after their exertions of the previous weekend.

As it stands, Russell is leading the track points by almost 40 points although there is still a long way to go.

In the opening heat, Wood led for a good part of the race but was caught and had to settle for third whilst Russell was back in eighth place.

In the second heat Wood again led for some time but lost ground with Russell coming through to finish in fourth whilst Wood dropped to seventh,

The final was a fast race with Wood again the early leader but again he was caught and dropped down the order as he was sent wide.

Russell in the end came through to finish in sixth whilst Wood had to be content with eighth place.

Rhys Anderson, from Brechin, was racing his ministox in a big field of cars but was unable to finish in the results during any of his outings.

This Saturday the saloon drivers return as do the ORCi ministox and they are joined in the fray by the unlimited bangers, the prostock basics and the micro F2s.

The meeting starts at 5.30pm
