Angus racer Barry Russell competes in the kingdom

Tam Rutherford Jnr won heat one from Charlie Folan and Johnny Wood with Russell down in seventh.

Declan Honeyman won heat two from Willie Mitchell and Charlie Folan but all three cars were nose to tail with neither of the local drivers finishing in the top ten.

The final ended with Honeyman picking up his second win of the night from Russell, Kyle Irvine and Wood.

Ian McLaughlin then rounded off a good night’s saloon racing when he won the Allcomers from Ross Watters and Irvine with Russell in fifth place.

The main event on the night, though, was the BBA unlimited banger race.

Drivers turned up in their droves on a bright but chilly Saturday evening and certainly entertained the fans with their antics.

No Scottish driver has won the race for 25 years and that wait will go on.

Amongst those racing were past winners Jack Overy, who was hoping for a fifth successive win, Shane Davies and Jason Jackson, both past winners.

There was a multiple car shunt not long after the race had started which eliminated a few of the fancied runners. The race was suspended after Steven Reynolds was hit hard and he needed assistance out of his car. Jackson led from Stevo McGrath who bounced him off the wall and out of the race, but there was another stoppage when a wheel came adrift from a car. McGrath now led from Liam Lake just managed to ease away to win with Scott Paterson just getting third on the last lap.
