'There were 300 people singing his name' - Arbroath boss Dick Campbell pays tribute to Bobby Linn after testimonial dinner

Dundee-born Linn, 36, who also works as a bin man, has served Arbroath since 2013 and the winger/striker remains a key member of the squad challenging for the Scottish Championship title this season.

Campbell told the Angus County Press: "After this season Bobby should be institutionalised.

"He’s a fascinating player, a fascinating ambassador for the club and there is nobody more deserving of a testimonial than Bobby.

"You could see that with the amount of people that were there on Sunday.

"There were 300 people singing his name all night.

"Bobby is entertaining and he has a magnificent attitude and natural enthusiasm.

"He takes people on, he’s very aggressive, he’s very positive and he can score goals. Every goal he scores is a spectacular one.”

When pressed on Linn’s day job, Campbell added: "Does he heck empty my bins, he stays in Dundee!”

Campbell had warned his players to be on their best behaviour at Sunday’s function for Lynn – who initially joined Arbroath on a free transfer from Ballingry Rovers – and go easy on the alcohol. And it seems as if they heeded this advice.

“They behaved themselves,” he added. “They were a shower of boring so-and-sos.

"They were away by 11 o’clock. I kept going.

"I have no idea when I stopped. I was staying in the hotel.”
