New manager Ray McKinnon secured his first victory for the club at home at Station Park to North Lanarkshire’s Albion Rovers on Saturday, thanks to a 33rd-minute Ben Armour goal following a Josh Jack free-kick, and he’s now after another as he seeks to guide the Loons away from League 2’s basement place.
Forfar are still bottom of the table but they’re now level on 16 points from as many games with second-bottom Bonnyrigg Rose and only one adrift of third-bottom Albion Rovers.
This weekend’s fixture at Stenny’s Ochilview Park has been brought forward from its original date of Saturday, December 24, and is one of only two League 2 matches being played this weekend, East Fife hosting Bonnyrigg being the other. Kick-off is at 3pm.
Athletic’s hosts currently sit sixth in the table, four places and four points better off than ex-Brechin City manager McKinnon’s men, having lost 2-1 at third-placed Elgin City on Saturday.
Looking ahead to his team’s trip south at the weekend, McKinnon, 52, told Forfar’s Facebook page: “We’re just going to try and win the game.
“We’ll have a look at them and see what their strengths are and their weaknesses and try and adapt the team to go out and win.”
Reviewing Saturday’s win, he added: “It was a good performance for about 75 or 80 minutes then we got a wee bit nervous.”
