Roselea were on cup duty when they travelled to Heathryfold Park to face Sunnybank in the second round of the North Regional Cup.

Having beaten Hermes on penalties in the previous round this was a great opportunity to progress to the quarter final.

Cumming had an early run into the Roselea box showing a good turn of pace and tested Tweed from a tight angle and the keeper had to smother at the second attempt.

Garnham had a turn in the box in five minutes and, although didn’t connect fully with his left footed shot, he still had Emslie in the home goal happy to see the ball pass the post.

Sunnybank opened the scoring in 35 with a finish from Burnett who picked the ball up 25 yards out and sent a low shot into the bottom right corner with his left foot.

The home side went 2-0 up on the stroke of half-time when Cumming broke down the right and outstripped Mitchell. The referee saw enough to award the home side a penalty. Burnett took the spot kick sending the ball into same corner as the opening goal.

Roselea came out with a more determined look in the second half and Thomson broke into the box getting two attempts to shoot but the ball would just not sit for him and the chance was passed up.

They finally got a breakthrough in 82 minutes when Beedie headed home a Greig corner. On Saturday Roselea return to Super League duty with the visit of Ellon United to Links Park at 2pm.
