Phil McGuire’s side are leading the way in the Midlands League, holding a six point lead at the top of the division.

They’ve been in ruthless form of late and, despite the manager making four changes for Saturday’s Thorntons Property Cup tie against Dundee Violet, they refused to take their foot off the gas.

For the second game in a row, Panmure ran out 7-0 winners.

The home side took the lead with just eight minutes played when Jay Taylor turned Connor Coupe’s delivery into his own net.

Violet managed to steady the ship for a period but found themselves two goals down when Gordon Macdonald added to Panmure’s advantage.

Carnoustie wasted little time in the second-half stretching their lead even further when Sam Simpson’s finish made it 3-0.

Sub Dale Reid scored Panmure’s fourth goal of the game before Ryan Dignan’s cross deceived the defence and drifted into the corner of the net.

Coupe got a deserved goal when he scored the sixth before Reid completed the rout.

Carnoustie will now travel to Westview Park in the second round with the winners away to Lochee harp in the quarter-finals.

Focus shifts back to the Midlands League this weekend when Carnoustie will look to take another step towards the title.

Lochee Harp are the visitors to Laing Park for a 2.30pm kick-off.
