Carnoustie poised at the top end of the division

Carnoustie Panmure closed to within three points of Midlands League leaders Dundee East Craigie thanks to a 5-1 win over Dundee St James.

The weekend’s fixture card across the country was heavily affected by Storm Malik, but it was Carnoustie who blew their hosts away.

Carnoustie took the lead after 10 minutes through Connor Coupe before the home side hauled themselves level.

But any hopes St James had of making a game of things were swiftly banished by Phil McGuire’s side.

Dale Reid put them back ahead with his 27th goal of the campaign with extras being added after the interval by Reid again and a Ryan Dignan double.

Steve Abbott was sent off for St James.

This weekend Carnoustie will look to keep their positive momentum going when they travel to Broughty Athletic.
