Lynas gets one over on his old side

Aron Lynas says it was a “no-brainer” to come back to Angus when Forfar Athletic showed interest.

Lynas spent three seasons at Brechin City after arriving at Glebe Park a decade ago and has since had spells at Albion Rovers and Dumbarton.

After leaving Dumbarton last week the 29-year-old right-back was quickly snapped up by Athletic.

As fate would have it Lynas made his debut on Saturday against the side he had just departed as Forfar won 2-0 at Station Park.

The hosts took the lead after 53 minutes when Jake Dolzanski laid off for Martin Rennie to fire in from just inside the box.

Dolzanski secured the three points with five minutes to go, stabbing home from close range after Dumbarton failed to clear a free kick.

Lynas told the club’s media team: “The move all happened quite quick, but as soon as I got in touch with Forfar it was kind of a no-brainer for me.

"It was good to be back playing and make my debut against my former club, although a bit weird to be facing all my ex-teammates.

“However, first and foremost it was about getting the three points and I thought the boys to a man were outstanding so I really enjoyed it..”

Lynas isn’t the only new arrival in the past week with loan deals being down for midfielder Aiden Haddow from Hearts, defender Matthew Strachan from Inverness Caledonian Thistle, goalkeeper Mason Munn from Rangers.

Forfar head to Elgin City this Saturday, now just three points off the play-off spots.
