It involves Forfar Athletic, Gary Irvine taking his second place side to Kelty Hearts to meet the league leaders.

The Fifers have been grabbing the headlines this season due to their near perfect start to the current campaign. Kevin Thomson’s side have yet to taste defeat in the 12 games they’ve played, winning nine and drawing the other three.

But while the focus has been on the New Central Park club, Irvine’s Forfar have been quietly going about their business.

A 2-1 win over Elgin City on Saturday kept Kelty within Forfar’s sights. A victory at the weekend in the kingdom will take them to within just four points of the league’s pacesetters.

It's a game Irvine is looking forward to and he is convinced he has the quality in his squad to return to Angus with the victory and inflict a first defeat of the season on Kelty.

“Both teams are in form,” said the Station Park boss.

"Kelty are 12 unbeaten and we’ve only lost one game ourselves, so when you look at the form of the two teams, and how we’ve started so far, it’s going to be a good one.

"Both teams will be confident on the back of wins over the weekend.

"It’s a good chance for us to go and challenge ourselves and give it a good go.

"It’s two teams in form who have been winning games, so we go down there with confidence.

"We want to keep building.”

Saturday’s win over Elgin not only kept Forfar in touch at the top but cemented their place inside the top four by eight points from fifth place Stenhousemuir.
