Queen's Park tie may be horses for courses for Montrose

It’s an important game for Montrose, who are looking to close out a promotion play-off spot, and the Links Park boss says he’ll have the condition of the park in mind when he prepares his team.

Speaking to the club’s social media channels, he said: “We’ll have a look at how we go down there and get something out of the game.

"It’s a massive game now with them being one of the teams chasing us for one of the play-off spots.

"Airdrie and Cove have pushed away from us now so we need to start picking up wins rather than draws.

"It’s a big game for us but we’ll get a team out there we think is right on that pitch.

"It may just be a case that we roll the sleeves up and batter it forward and pick up the second ball.”

Mo go into that game on the back of a 1-1 home draw against Clyde.

It was the club’s second draw in three weeks and Petrie is keen to see one point turning into three.

“We lose the first goal against Clyde and then it’s always difficult chasing games,” he added.

"We created chances and maybe could have nicked it towards the end but, ultimately, we didn’t do well enough to win the game.

"It’s another frustrating day and we need to find a way of doing better at home.

"We need to be mindful of where the club is now, from where we were, that teams are coming to us and going home with a point.

"But fair play to Danny Lennon and Allan Moore, I thought their team was good and dangerous on the counter attack.

"We maybe just need to be a bit more patient at times in games, pass the ball more and pass it better.

"The chances will come and hopefully we’ll start scoring goals again as well.”
