The Glebe Park boss has already made a raft of re-signings while others have departed from the club.

The hard work continued this week with it confirmed that City had agreed a pre-contract agreement with Dundee United for Nathan Cooney.

Cooney will be returning to Brechin on a permanent basis having signed on-loan from the Tangerines in January.

His spell at the club was limited to just two appearances, though, due to a foot injury.

But boss Kirk was impressed with what he did see of the Dundee United academy graduate and was keen to tie him down on a permanent deal.

"Nathan came in on loan from Dundee United and trained with us a few times and played a couple of games,” said the manager.

"From that you could see he was a player that we would definitely want.

"He's quick, strong, aggressive and very good defensively - he'll bring a huge amount to our back line.

"He's another young player that is desperate to improve so we're delighted to get Nathan and we're looking forward to working with him."

The Angus club has also announced its 2022-23 pre-season friendly schedule this week.

Brechin will host Arbroath on June 25 and travel to Jeanfield on July 2 before welcoming Aberdeen on July 5 and Brechin Vics on July 9.

The Brechin Vics game will include a fun-day.
