The side went into their final league fixture against Dryburgh with the SWF Championship North league title wrapped up, but still with something left to achieve.

Few teams manage to go through the season undefeated and, for Montrose, that was the prize on the line when they took to pitch on Sunday at Links Park.

Craig Feroz has guided the side to a convincing title win by wrapping up the league recently against East Fife.

But the Angus side have refused to take their foot off the gas and knew they had something to achieve over their final couple of games before they could turn their focus fully on life in the SWPL 2 next season.

Dryburgh arrived with ambitions of still qualifying for the end of season play-offs and are no slouches themselves.

But they proved no match for the local side who ran out 5-1 winners to end the season undefeated and ensure they’ll hit the ground running when the new season starts.

Post match, manager Feroz said: “The stats speak for themselves, we’re the champions and we deserve it.

"It’s not easy (to stay undefeated) in any sport because you have off days.

"We had ours up in Inverness when we were up 1-0 with two minutes to go and they scored.

"But they’ve been outstanding the past five weeks and they deserve it.

"There’s no way anybody can say we don’t deserve this league.”
