Montrose a step closer to top-four spot

It was Mo’s third draw in a row at Links Park but, crucially, with games now ticking away until the season’s end, it may prove to be a good point with fifth placed Falkirk failing to make up any ground on the top four.

Assistant boss Ross Campbell acknowledges his side need to rediscover their killer touch and hopes it arrives again for this weekend’s trip to Peterhead.

“It’s becoming a recurring theme, and it’s credit to the boys for earning this, but we’re finding it difficult to break down teams,” said the assistant.

"We have four or five chances against East Fife .

"You add these up and it’s frustrating, so we need to get ahead of teams because, if not, it starts to become a scrap and this league is really tough.

"We’ve come so far as a group that the boys need to start believing in themselves better.”

Despite not taking the three points, no damage was done in the pursuit for a top four place.

“On the one hand you get frustrated because that’s three draws against teams in the bottom half when you’re in the top,” added Campbell.

"But then you go in and see that Falkirk drew again so there’s a silver-lining in that.

"We’ll regroup.

"It’ll be a tough game up at Peterhead, so we look forward to that one now.”
