Low's return a real high point for Arbroath

The Lichties midfielder hasn’t started since September due to injury but didn’t miss a beat at the weekend after being pitched back in to Dick Campbell’s 11.

He only expected to be given an hour at Stark’s Park but instead lasted until the final few seconds.

He marked his return to the starting line-up with the match winning penalty after 82 minutes.

Jack Hamilton cancelled out Reghan Tumilty’s first-half opener as Arbroath secured a three points which helped them kick four points clear at the top of the Championship.

“I’m delighted to be back,” said the 30-year-old.

"I’ve missed a large chunk of the season and the boys have been flying, so it’s been frustrating because I love my football and want to play every minute of every game.

"The gaffer pulled me over and said ‘you’ve been looking good in training so it’s about time we got you back involved’.

"We said on Wednesday night that I’d play 60 minutes so I must have played alright because he would have hooked me if not.

"In the last couple of minutes I was cramping up but that’s normal with being out so long.”

Title talk remains muted but Lichties show absolutely no signs of letting up at the top end of the division.

Saturday’s win came in the wake of the club losing loan players Joel Nouble and Anton Dowds back to their parent clubs.

Low says Saturday’s win proves the strength and quality that remains.

"We’ve lost a couple of big players but it just shows that we can still go to Raith and win away,” he added.

"People keep asking us what the ambitions are.

"We’re top of the league and played every team once or twice and we’re as good as anybody in my opinion.

"We lost a couple of players who have been on loan and been brilliant for us so it shows the character of the team that we’re still going to challenge.

"It’s a massive three points but that’s all it is.

"It’s another game and there’s still plenty of the season to go.”
