Forfar chairman issues his thanks to those behind the scenes

The chair said this week that work is already underway to make sure Forfar go one better next season and make a return to League One.

Before that, though, the dust has to settle on the season gone and Murdie says those who helped the club to a second place finish in the division should be thanked.

"Another season finished and, although the disappointment of last weekend remains, there has been a huge amount to take pride in on the field and the work is already underway to build on that for the new season,” said the Forfar chairman.

"I would like to put on record my thanks, and that of everyone behind the scenes at Station Park, to our loyal supporters who turned out week in week out to back Gary Irvine and the team.

"It was not the easiest start to the season with Covid-19 restrictions still in place for many months, but you bought your season tickets in higher numbers than for many years, paid your admission fees and worked with us to comply with the regulations.

"This allowed football to get back underway in front of crowds which is what it is all about.

"It was wonderful to see you all back in Station Park and it was in fact quite emotional at those first few games to hear the shouts of support after the empty stand and terraces of the previous season. "

Station Park saw a growing positive energy around it last season, helped of course to the first team’s results, but also other influences.

Murdie praised the Forfar Community Football Trust for engagaing with local youngsters and getting them involved in the club and back on the Station Park terraces again.

No club at League Two level could operate from week-to-week without its volunteers and those too have been recognised by the chair in a statement released on the club's social media channels this week.

The club’s management and coaching staff, players media team, sponsors, business club and others who have contributed over the season were also praised by Murdie for their help.
