Brechin City add two but one departs

Leaving Glebe Park, though, is popular forward David Cox who the club confirmed would be moving on to West of Scotland side Cambuslang Rangers.

Cox was a stand-out for City last season, finishing the campaign as joint top goalscorer with 18 goals in all competitions.

His success at the club was made all the more pleasing given that City had managed to talk the forward out of retirement to sign a one-year deal.

While Cox’s time at the club has come to an end, joining is goalkeeper Lenny Wilson who joins City from League One side Peterhead.

The 25-year old spent his early career in the USA where he represented Hartwick Hawks, Michigan Bucks and Red Storm.

Born in Aberdeen, Wilson returned to Scotland in 2019, signing for the Blue Toon where he has spent the past three seasons.

He will compete with fellow keeper Iain Ross for the gloves next season.

Manager Andy Kirk told brechincity.com: "We're delighted to get Lenny in who has experience in both the SPFL and Highland League, having played for Brora on loan last season.

"He'll bring a technical quality to the back line and we believe he's a goalkeeper that is only going to improve. We're very pleased to get him on board."

Also confirming his future to the Angus side is Jordan Northcott following the expiry of his contract at St Johnstone.

The 20-year-old will be no stranger to City supporters, spending the end of last season with the club where he made nine appearances – all of which resulted in victory – for Brechin.

Kirk added: "Jordan with us on loan from St Johnstone towards the end of the season and is a very talented, quick and flexible player.

"He is versatile and played in a number of positions for us.

"I see Jordan as an attacking player whether it's on the wing or in a central position but you could see during his time on loan with us that he could do the dirty side of the game as well and can work back the pitch to help the team.

"He has a great attitude and is another player who is hungry to progress in the game. We want players with the right attitude and skillset and he has that.

"He has a good pedigree coming through at St Johnstone with full time football and he really enjoyed his loan on loan at Brechin last season which is why we've managed to bring him back.

"When the opportunity arose for him to come back and join us he was more than happy to do so.

"He is another player that will enhance the squad and make us stronger - we are delighted to have him on board."
