Arbroath will freshen things up for Ayr visit

Arbroath boss Dick Campbell will shuffle his pack for Saturday’s home match against Ayr United following the side’s 3-0 defeat in Inverness last weekend.

Defeat isn’t something the Lichties have been used to this campaign but Campbell admits he wasn’t happy with aspects of what he saw at the Caledonian Stadium.

“We weren’t our usual selves, we were very apprehensive but, in fairness, I thought Inverness got every break that was going,” said Campbell, who was sent to the stand in the second-half.

"We weren’t at it.

"It’s only our fourth defeat this year so I’m not getting too caught up in it.

"But there will be changes because I’m not going to accept that.”

The defeat wasn’t capitalised on by third placed Partick Thistle and leaves Arbroath with a six point cushion in second place, just two points behind leaders Kilmarnock.

Campbell, though, continues to dismiss title talk, saying his side deserves praise for now reaching their main pre-season objective.

"People are forgetting what we’ve achieved. That achievement has been met because we wanted to stay in the league and we’ve done that with flying colours,” added the Gayfield boss.

"They’re now talking about championships but I’ve never talked about championships.”

Ahead of the Ayr United game, Campbell has a couple of fresh injury concerns.

"Liam Henderson looks like he’ll be out and Derek Gaston is struggling so Calum Antell may come in, but I’ve no problem with that.”
