Mr Lawrie was raised in Monifieth and attended Monifieth High School before studying at Dundee & Angus College and the University of St Andrews.

Since his election to Angus Council he has campaigned for increased opportunities for young people, improved mental health and well-being, and kept Angus clean and green.

He said: “It’s been the honour of my life to spend the past five years representing the town I grew up in on Angus Council. I was elected as your local Councillor in 2017.

"I was just a young lad, 22 years old, and driven by my own experiences of mental illness and a desire to make life better for others.

“I have tried my hardest to stay in regular contact with local residents, to be proactive in fixing local issues and to work constructively with councillors of all political parties for the good of the whole of Angus.

"Five years later and after much consideration I am pleased to announce my decision to stand for re-election.

"I hope that I can count on your support to deliver another five years of wholesome community action.”
