Although the latest strike is due to end tomorrow (Wednesday), Angus Council has been notified of additional strike days in September, running from next Tuesday, September 6 to Tuesday, September 13.

A council spokesperson said: “Please continue to put your bin out by 7am on your normal collection day during strike days but take it back in if not emptied.

“If we missed your bin, we can collect the equivalent of up to three large black bags beside a purple bin on the next collection day. Please don’t put out more than three bags as we need to make sure we can complete rounds and that everyone on the route gets a collection.

“Please take your excess waste and recycling to any of our recycling centres if possible – they will be open between September 1 and September 5 but remember they will be busy so please be patient.

“Use a recycling centre for black-bag waste or recycling but please don’t bring bulky items like mattresses that fill up general waste skips. Please keep recycling what you can.

“If you need to store waste at home, please rinse food waste from your recycling and continue to collect it separately - flatten boxes and squash bottles to save space. Consider double or triple-bagging non-recyclable general waste if storing out with your bin and try to contain bags with food waste within your purple bin.”
