Bid to offload former Monifieth skip site approved
A local cycling group will keep its home at a former skip site in Monifieth amid plans to offload the site
The Riverview Drive recycling centre was one of two closed by Angus Council in 2023. The Kirriemuir skip site was axed at the same time.

Councillors have now agreed that the Monifieth site and a neighbouring disused council parks yard be declared surplus to requirements and put on the open market for sale.
Cycling Without Age to keep store at the Monifieth yard
However, the recycling centre store and part of the yard are used by Monifieth Cycling Without Age and Monifieth Boys’ Brigade.
Officers outlined that the store currently occupied by Cycling Without Age Scotland will be retained by the council and not included in the sale to allow its continued occupation.
Monifieth Boys Brigade can be relocated to a site within the depot.
Council officers say the changes will have no major impacts on the marketing of the site.
Speaking at a meeting onTuesday, Councillor Craig Fotheringham: “When the decision was taken to close (the recycling centre) I was very disappointed.
“When I heard that it was going to go on the open market, I had concerns for these two groups. However, I’m happy to support the recommendations.”
Councillor Mark McDonald added: “This is a bit of a win for councillors because the first time this came up, it was recommended that Cycling Without Age and the other tenants moved out.
“It’s a good thing to see Cycling Without Age able to stay in the building that they are in just now.”
