Forfar Dramatic Society is bringing some classic family entertainment to the stage in time for Christmas.

The group is presenting ‘The Witches’ by David Wood, adapted from the novel by Roald Dahl, in Studio 132, East High Street, from this Wednesday, December 15 to Saturday, December 18 at

7.30pm each night.

In David Wood’s faithful adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic story, a Boy and his grandmother defeat the Grand High Witch and her followers as they hold a conference in an English seaside hotel.

During the struggle, Boy gets turned into a mouse. The Witches are nothing like the ones who wear pointed hats and fly on broomsticks – they look very much like ordinary women, which helps their deception.

The story originates from Dahl’s memories of his childhood bedtime stories of witches and magic with his family in Norway and has been retold a few times on film, with arguably the 1990 version starring Angelica Houston as the Grand High Witch the most notable.

This is pure family entertainment with lots of laughs along the way.

Tickets are on sale online via Ticket Source and can be bought at www.ticketsource.co.ukorfardramatic
