Founder Jenny Drew of Sew Confident Glasgow and Franchisee Sandra Cassidy of Sew Confident Dundee are rallying their communities together to help families facing a tough winter to keep warm and get through the cold months ahead.

Putting their crafting skills to good use, the Sew Confident teams and their communities of helpers are knitting and crocheting gloves, hats and scarves to be distributed along with food packages within the Dundee and Glasgow food banks.

She said: “We’re hoping to pull together and donate as many items as possible but our goal is to donate 50 items to the Dundee and Angus Food Bank by December 1. It feels like the cold has set in a lot earlier this year and as energy prices soar, so many households are anticipating a challenging Winter ahead.

"I always try to do my bit to help where possible so I’m so happy to be helping Dundee and Angus food bank and putting my knitting skills to work. We recently helped NHS Tayside and the Palliative care team who were in desperate need of new Syringe Driver bags for patients.

"We’re appealing to anyone who has knitting/crocheting experience to get involved and have even reached out to care homes to involve any elderly folk with idle hands.”

Ken Linton, manager at Dundee and Angus Food Bank, said: “We were thrilled to hear that Sandra wanted to help ahead of the cold months and will be happy to pass her donations on to our clients.”
