The charity has been searching for a home for Duke for almost 200 days, but he has so far attracted little interest.

Dale Christie, centre assistant manager, said: “Duke is a lively lad with boundless energy and a heart of gold.

“He can get very excited when going out for walks and can become quite bouncy but he soon calms down once he gets going. Any potential new owner will need to continue his training to help him become a model canine citizen.

“Duke has some skin allergies that can flare up from time to time. Any potential new owner will need to take this into consideration along with the veterinary costs that this may incur.

“Due to his bouncy nature he is looking for an experienced owner, and would be best suited to an adult only home. He still needs some socialisation around other canine friends, so would prefer to be the only pet. If anyone has any questions about Duke, please feel free to give the centre a call.”

People can apply to rehome Duke via the charity’s website.
