Members of the town's Rotary Club were at the boat shed recently to help paint the inside of the craft with its third coat of undercoat.

The final two top coats are due to be applied later in the week.

After that, the hull will be turned over so the outside can also be painted with three coats of undercoat and two top coats.

A Rotary spokesperson said: “During this time we have also been varnishing the seats the rudder and foot rests. A final coat of varnish on the gunwales will be applied when the hull is turned over ready for the naming.

“Also scheduled is the manufacture of the oars starting this week at a secret location in Forfar.

“Thanks to everyone who came down to the boat shed to help.”

Visitors are welcome Tuesday-Thursday, 9.30am to 12pm, to see this community project nearing completion, and enjoy a chat and a coffee.
