RMA branch celebrates 20 years

Members of the East of Scotland branch of The Royal Marines Association recently celebrated 20 years since the branch’s foundation.

A few of its members gathered at the Arbroath Royal British Legion where the reminisced about great times serving in the corps.

The party was organised by Dave Barton, Rev Begg recited The Royal Marines’ prayer, and bottles of port were in abundance to raise a glass to "absent friends".

A welcoming address to the gathering was given by chairman Phil Scotthorne and a brief history was recited by branch historian Graham Reed.

Representatives of 45 Cdo, RMA Riders, 29 Commando and Marine Cadets were also in attendance.

Branch President Colonel Barry Barnwell thanked the committee members for their efforts in organising the special event, before cutting the anniversary cake, and raising a toast to the branch’s next 20 years.
