Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious road crash on the outskirts of Monifieth at the weekend.

An 85-year-old driver suffered serious injuries in the incident which happened at around 7.30pm on Saturday (September 17) on the A92 at the Ethiebeaton Roundabout.

Emergency services were called to the scene after a silver Hyundai ix20 crashed at the roundabout resulting in the driver, the vehicle’s sole occupant, being seriously injured.

He was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where medical staff describe his condition as serious.

Sergeant Steve Livesey, Tayside Road Policing Unit, said that officers are keen to trace anyone who may have information about the crash or who had seen the silver Hyundai in the area beforehand.

He said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and are keen to trace any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the crash.
