New RMA role for bugler Claire

An Arbroath Royal Navy veteran has taken up a new role with the East of Scotland branch of the Royal Marines Association.

Jeff Smart is standing down from his role as the branch’s bugler with the, although he will continue to be an active member, and he has handed over his duties to Claire Smart.

Claire was brought up in Arbroath, where she was a sea cadet. She later joined the Royal Navy, serving for more tha 20 years including at Portsmouth, Faslane, HMS Ark Royal, HMS Illustrious, HMS Daring and during the second Gulf War 2 in Operation Telic.

Claire now enjoys civilian life living in Forfar, however she will take up bugling duties with immediate effect.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
