There have been several instances of vandalism and excessive, dangerous littering at the country park, with Angus Council staff having to clean up broken glass, litter and fix ripped-down fencing and damage to property in the play park and surrounding area on an almost daily basis.

CCTV footage has shown that the damage is being caused by young people and this has been passed to police to deal with.

A council spokesperson said: “It was hugely frustrating that they had to be closed while time and resources were directed to this unplanned repair work. It’s also a great pity that more public pennies than necessary have been spent due to the mindless actions of a minority in our community.

“At a time when money is incredibly tight, none of us should have to put up with vandalism of our public resources or, indeed, our private property. Police enquiries are ongoing and we’d ask anyone who sees vandalism or anti-social behaviour to report it to Police Scotland on 101.”

The council has also appealed to parents to make sure they know where their children are in the evenings.
