Invitation to see progress on community skiff

Forfar Rotary Club has issued an open invitation to the local public to view progress being made on the town’s new community skiff.

Work has been progressing steadily on the new craft which, once finished, will be made available to community groups across the area.

Lately the team has been working on the internal fittings – the Cox’s seat and footrest, the four rower’s footrests, which have been time-consuming tasks

While this has been going on the routh plates (wear plates for the oars) have been made and glued. The rudder is under construction and the pintles are ready to be screwed to the stern post and rudder. Over the next week the hull will be given a final sanding and the varnishing of the seats, footrests, cox’s seat and gunwales will begin.

Anyone interested in the project is free to call in at the boatshed, near Forfar Cricket Club, on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9.30am and noon - look for the feather flag outside the shed.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
