Doug the dug among this week's pets looking for a new family

The Scottish SPCA is seeking homes for three very different animals currently in its care at its rehoming centres.
Maggie is a 14-year-old Shetland pony seeking an owner who has the patience to help her come out of her shell.Maggie is a 14-year-old Shetland pony seeking an owner who has the patience to help her come out of her shell.

Doug is a Jack Russell terrier looking for his new family and currently being accommodated at the charity’s Angus Centre.

Doug is a lovely boy with a quirky personality who loves walks and playing with his favourite toys. He will need a large enclosed garden where he can play and run around off-lead.

He enjoys being the centre of attention and is very affectionate once he knows and trusts you. He is a cheeky boy sometimes, not above jumping on surfaces to steal food that isn’t his. Doug’s new owner will need to keep an eye on him and continue with positive reinforcement training to keep on top of his rambunctious behaviour!

Terrier experience is preferred as he has some classic terrier traits. He loves to use his voice to get attention and, due to his breed’s prey instincts, cannot be placed in a home with small animals or cats.

If you can give Doug his new home, please apply via the Scottish SPCA website: https://www.scottishspca.org/rehome-a-pet/12842-doug

Maggie is a 14-year-old Shetland pony in the care of the Aberdeenshire centre. She enjoys being pampered, will allow you to pick up her feet and is good with the farrier.

She likes going on walks but sometimes needs a little encouragement. Due to her nervous nature, she needs an owner who has time and patience to help her come out of her shell.

She is a little shy with new people but, once she sees you have a tasty treat for her, she will come over to say hello!

Wednesday requires a large space which can provide lots of enrichment and room for exercise.
