Donation to Arbroath RNLI in memory of local fisherman

Arbroath’s volunteer lifeboat crew recently accepted a donation in memory of a local fisherman, raised by his family.

The cash was raised in memory of Frank Murison, who had sailed out of East Haven for more than 50 years.

Frank’s wife and son, Shirley and Michael, called in to the station to present the donation to some of the local RNLI crew and fundraising guild president, Mo Morrison.

Shirley said: “In all the years Frank fished at the sea he luckily never needed the lifeboat, but if he did, it would have been Arbroath that went to get him.

"We’re pleased to be able to donate and help fund Arbroath's lifeboat service in Franks name.’

A total of £820 was raised, which will be used to help and equip and train the crew members so that they can continue helping fellow seafarers.

Sam Clow, station coxswain and mechanic, said: We are very appreciative of this donation from Shirley and Michael, we really can’t thank them enough. It’s because of our amazing supporters that we can run our vital service, and we are continually blown away by our fantastic community’s generosity.”

The RNLI relies entirely on public donations to keep running.
