Chippy Challenge for Montrose church Summer Mission

Pictured are the children and young people who enjoyed the Summer Mission at Montrose Old & St Andrew’s Church.

After a break of 3 years due to Covid, Old and St Andrew’s Summer Mission returned last week with the enthusiasm and vigour that has made this a very successful week in the Montrose calendar for the last 15 years.

The Holiday Club theme was set in a fish and chip shop run by Auntie Haddock and her two apprentices, Fishy and Chippy. The Bible story being covered was Peter and how Jesus called him to leave his fishing net and follow him.

Although the main focus of the week was the children’s holiday club, there really was something for everyone. Relatives and friends were also welcome to come along for a cuppa during the time the holiday club is running (10.30am – 12.30pm) and have the chance to view the proceedings in the Chip Shop from the gallery where there were also toddler toys for children who are too young to attend the holiday club.

The ever-popular pancake tea party on Thursday afternoon also returned and those lucky enough to come along were treated with a freshly made pancake and the topping of their choice. The fun continued on Saturday morning with a Beetle Drive and barbecue for all the family, before the week closed on Sunday with a service in the hall followed by a lunch for all.
