Currently the group is having difficulty making up meal parcels for those in need.

While organisers acknowledge that a dip in the number of donations is not unusual at this time of year, the situation seems to be worse because of the cost of living crisis and Universal Credit cut.

There is a shortage in donations of fruit and vegetables to the extent that the group has begun to buy its own and is trying to raise funds in order to do so.

There are also concerns that as fuel and food bills increase, more people will use the community pantry for help.

The group is currently looking for donations of all food cupboard food including tinned beans, tinned spaghetti, tinned vegetables, tinned meats, corned beef, Fray Bentos pies, beans with sausage, tuna, Super Noodles, Pot Noodles, coffee, sugar, UHT milk, toilet roll and toiletries

Donations can be handed in to the community pantry at 7 Swan Street, Brechin, between 10am and 3pm on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. The pantry is open to anyone from the Brechin and Edzell areas and referrals are not necessary.
